Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to complete any paperwork to obtain a comtainer for waste collections?
Various legal responsibilities affect both the producer and disposer of any waste, which do require some amount of documentation. However, we take care of all possible paperwork, leaving the process as simple as possible for the customer.

I’m interested in a size/form of waste container that I don’t see on your website; do you offer any others?
We only include the most common sizes of containers on the website, however, we can provide a much wider variety. Please contact us for further details.

What can I put into my DTS Waste commercial waste container?
You can put any non-hazardous, compactable waste into your General Waste/Mixed Municipal container. This is subject to assumed weight limits and the container must not be consistently over-filled - i.e. the lid must close.

If you have a container for Dry Mixed Recyclables, only the following materials can go into this: cardboard, paper, cans/tins and plastic bottles and film. These materials must be clean and dry. Contamination of this waste stream is a very serious matter and subject to extra charges, should it happen.

If you are unsure which type of container/service you have, you should be able to check on your DTS contract and/or Waste Transfer Note. The EWC code 20-03-01 refers to general waste/mixed municipal and the code 15-01-06 refers to dry mixed recyclables/mixed packaging.

It is a serious responsibility to ensure that your waste is correctly described, as transferring waste that is incorrectly described breaches environmental regulations.

I am concerned that the waste in my commercial waste container is very heavy - is there anything I can do?
Collecting and reprocessing general/mixed waste is a very expensive process and weight limits do need to be monitored. If you have received notice that your container is heavier than the assumed weight in your contract/waste transfer note, or you believe that it could be, we should be able to help. Waste reduction plans, to ensure that the heaviest types of materials are not wasted, for example, can often help. Please contact us for details, if you have any questions or doubts.

How can I pay for your services?
We can accept payments by cheque, bank transfer and credit card, as well as via Paypal and Direct Debit. We can also accept online payments - please contact us to receive a version of your invoice that includes a link to the relevant page. If you would like to change your payment method, please contact us.
